Cast aside like a rag doll,
Something you no longer needed
To shore up your soul,
Something you didn’t
Need to believe in anymore…

And I came,

Like a foolish child,
Eager to play your games…

Rejected what you’d made,
By your own twisted hands,
Carved from the hate in your soul,
I became something you loathed,

What you had become,

If it wasn’t always in you,

To blame me.

So you called my name,
With anger and tears,
And I came to you,
With so much fear,
But when you laughed,
At your joke
It sounded so hollow in the room,
For no one was there to hear,
But me…

And I learned something baby,
Something so dear,
I never go out anymore,
Without my armor-
(Shiny bright steel)
And your laughter slid off me,
And crashed to the floor,
As I turned and walked
Out the door…

I am safe baby,

Could not penetrate my shield-
And I find to my sweet surprise,
