The Door To Her Heart

He stands brave and true ,
Holding out his hands,
His heart full of love and promises
He means to keep-
But his Lady Fair turns away,
Untrusting and Afraid,
For her heart has been mortally wounded…
Lies barely beating on the distant shore,
Waiting for the tide to return,
And bury it once more…

The knight stares into her vacant eyes,
And knows in his heart,
She is no longer even there-
Understands at last,
What part his love will play in this drama,
If he is to know victory today-

His path is clear as he measures
The heavily barred gate-
Measuring his internal strength
Against the iron she has piled there…

He plans with his heart,
How best to penetrate that wall,
Built so well by Pain’s daughter-
Looks and reads the ordinate sign
Carved on the door to her heart…

Reads with eyes misty and teared,
For carved in blood for all to see,
Lie the words that make him weep…

“Be warned all who dare to enter here-
For here there be Dragons of fierce fire,
Grim Gargoyles guarding every path,
Their shiny scimitars raised on high-
Ready to behead any mortal man,
Who dares to enter this barren wasteland…”

Painfully moving, Oh, Retta, so beautifully done, written with/from within that 'daughter' of 'Pain'...
(((You)))
This piece, words so beautifully used to so honestly show the bare fear and steel and yet, the Man is of kindness and more...God, this piece is amazing!
magic, indeed. real, all too real, all too...
Love, dear you!
bravo for the courage of this, as well
