For my journeys are long,
And wear me down,

This burden I carry

There is much in the world,
I do not believe in-
Neither gods nor men,
And how sad I was to discover,
That one of them was you…
Your love and the many things you do,
Taught me to build walls,
You could never scale…
Your love,
Was never one I took well…


Yet you are in my heart,
Like we never came apart,
I see your eyes,
When ever I look
At the summer skies,
And that wild wheat,
That grows so well,
Reminds me so,
Of your golden hair...

The wild sage,
With its musky smell,
Was always a way that I could tell,
You were standing somewhere near,
And it always eased my fear…
But I set you free,
Fearing you couldn’t love me,
Could never understand,
What I was trying to be…

My scars scared you,
You couldn’t bear the stories
That they would tell,
Fearing it meant,
You weren’t enough for me,
I wish I could make you see,
It was always you,
That set me free…

The lines I draw so fine,
Explain and define,
The agony I hide inside,
Cover all that is real,
And the pain that I feel,
When I could not understand,
What kind of man,
You must be,
To love someone like me…

I lost you,
And I lost me,
With deeds you can’t forgive,
And no matter how much
You tried to give
Me a reason to stay,
I pushed you away,
Until all that is left
Is this gift of stone,
I carry with me as I travel alone,
Seeking your face,
Missing your strong embrace,
Carrying the weight of my sin,
Hoping one day
We shall find each other again…

So to those who travel light,
To those who can sleep at night,
Tell me your secret,
While I take a moment to sit,
For I am growing weary,
This sadness rather scary,
And seek to lay me down,
Wish to be buried in the ground,
Next to those I once loved...

Shall find the beauty of your eyes,
In the hot summer skies,
