He talks this one,
So much like my old friend,
So many words are the same,
And I want to believe him,
Yet fear that truth,
That lies in my heart
Like a stone…

Shall I flee his open hand?
And soft words,
His eyes which haunt me,
With their beauty and depth...
I do not know,
Feel only such fear,
That I want to flee,
Not hear him call…

Yet when he comes,
I am drawn to him,
Wondering if this time,
It will be different,
Dare I open that heart?
Sealed so well?

He asks me to call,
Despite that I tell him,
I cannot speak,
Cannot get a whisper
Around the knot in my throat,
And my mind is wild,
With racing thoughts,
How will I untangle,
This terrible knot?

I try to dial,
But my fingers won’t work,
Keep missing the numbers,
And almost give up…
But I want to be strong,
Prove I can do this,
And somehow the phone is ringing,
And he is repeating…

Hello. Hello...
Is it you?
Say your name….
But I can’t,
My mind is gone,
And I don’t know who I am…
I hang up the phone,
And try to leave,
But he is typing
Please, please
Try again…

What’s wrong with me?
He is just a man!
Kind and good...
I don’t understand!
Why am I so afraid?
I remember his voice,
Saying through my fear,
Talk, talk, is it you?
Don’t be afraid,
Say your name….

The phone is in my hand again,
And I hear it ringing,
Suddenly
I hear his soft voice,
He sounds so sweet,
Like birds singing-
I love his voice,
I want to hear more,
But my heart is pounding too loud,
And I am mute,

Still his voice reaches pass my fear,
And I answer him softly,
“I am here...”
He says then,
Are we not friends?
Say hello,
I want to hear your name,
But suddenly
I don’t know,
Why am I doing this again?
I really don’t need a friend,
Everything is fine,
But he says,
“I want you to be mine,
Someone to share my dreams,
Listen to me cry,
And all I can think of,
Is why…

Why me?
Why wake me from my sleep?
I don’t want to weep anymore,
I don’t want to open that door!
But he is speaking
In a voice so sweet,
Saying Darling,
I wish we could meet-
We can still be friends,
Don’t be afraid,
Just speak!

My hands are trembling,
And my voice is weak,
But my friend is pinching me,
Telling me to say hello!
I whisper into the phone,
Wondering if he can hear,
For my voice is so low…

I don’t know what to say,
So I whisper,
“Hey,
It’s me…”

He talks then,
Of many things,
And I see him in my mind,
He is so good,
So very kind,
And suddenly,
I don’t mind,
I sit here forever,
And listen to him talk…
My heart is fluttering,
And I am so alive,
I feel so happy,
I am finally laughing!

Too soon its time to go,
And I whisper once more,
“Hello, my friend,
I have to say good-bye,
But I know in my heart,
It’s not the end,
Suddenly I have a new friend…

Incredibly beautiful write,
Retta. This is spoken from
the heart and soul. Open up
your heart, my friend..as a
rose opens its petals..and let
the sun inside. Do not be
afraid. Life is waiting just
beyond the petals. God be with
you always.

You are right Retta to hold back in hesitation. Especially since you may not know who you are touching when you reach out. Hope everything goes ok for you. Bill

Its my happiness that u are my true friend. I like your trueness, care, support and frankness. I can understand how the moment was when u took the phone. I knew how you felt and how it was. Why you welcomed you close friend to talk to me. I'm so happy you considered me as nice to call me and felt free to say HI to me. I'm so happy you did it. I know how much you worried. How much you shyed. But i wanted you to talk. Never wanted you to shy before me. And you did it.. You made it. You finally talked . It was my pleasure to talk with u. You are notjust a friend for me. U are a true person in my heart. I respect you a lot.

never fear, when true love and I do mean TRUE love calls you, it will track you down like a cruise missle...You don't have to put any fear, worry, stress into any relationship..What is MEANT to happen will through the power of destiny...This will reveal itself..Precious angel, don't sweat...If you're meant to be only friends, don't sweat that one either...Too many times in our world we put "masks " on to hide our feelings of low self worth..Truth IS ~ We are so beautiful INSIDE and OUT!!!!If we would stop the games and just ask ourselves in our gutt intuition, where everything is, we'll never fear...

Love you sweety,
Dove
