I see the stain on your shirt,
Like a rude tear drop,
Almost a heart...
I see the pain in your eyes,
The way you hold yourself in tight,
Your eyes hollowed and glazed,
And I know you can't see me here,
Staring at you,
Wishing you were whole-
Oh God, Baby,
You don't have to bleed for me...
I cut my steak,
Pretending not to see the way
You stare at the blade,
Watching it glow and sparkle
In the glow of the candle light...
You take the knife I lay down,
And press the tip against your thumb,
As my heart pleads,
Baby please,
Don't bleed for me...
I watch the blood trickle down your hand,
The way you seem fascinated by its path,
With the sharp edge in your grasp,
I watch as your eyes glaze,
And see the smile play across your lips-
I know you don't hear me weeping,
But I say it anyway-
Baby, you don't need to bleed for me,
You don't need my name
Carved above your heart,
To know that you are mine...
I only wish that I could find a way,
To take away your pain,
And I wonder who is the most insane-
You for carving tally lines,
Or me for standing idly by...
Can't help but wonder why you feel the need,
To make me watch you bleed...
I look into your eyes,
See the despair you don't even try to hide,
And though I know you can't hear me,
I say it to you anyway-
Oh baby,
Don't hold me hostage to your pain,
What you're doing is driving us both insane-
I wish there was some way to make you see,
You really don't need to bleed for me...
You are so in tune with pain, you see the wheels turn and know why and how and when, you must lose so much sleep worrying over those sad hurt fragile souls,I know you must as it is so evident that you have an incredible empathy to those who have suffered. They are so lucky to have you but it must drain you so and weigh you down.Your love for them is clearly very real.
Your poetry takes the reader right there where truth jumps out ...shocking at times but always genuine emotion.Thank you for sharing.
I have to write that this is a masterpiece for....it is.
