Summer comes in all its heat,
All the flowers lie wilted,
Bent by defeat,
Yet the moon rises,
And brings sweet relief,
Drives me into the night,
Walking paths lit by starlight…
The night,
Surrounds me with gentle beauty,
Shadows of things I love to see,
In the brightness of the day,
Now softly muted,
Plump and grey…
The moon peers her lovely head,
From beneath the heavy cloud,
And I hear his whispered voice,
Echoing among the trees;
“Are you there my love?
Are you here?”
I stop and listen
To his soft breathing,
Trying to see where he is hiding,
But the shadows are deep,
And dark,
And my eyes are weak,
In the shadowed moon light…
I smell him,
Soft and fragrant,
Wild sage on his clothes,
And honey suckled breath,
I feel his strength in the forest,
And seek to rest my hand,
On my beating heart,
Trying to still its loud drumming,
He will hear me coming!
The moon smiles brightly,
And I see him then,
Outlined in its white light,
How glorious he looks,
On this wonderful night…
He reaches for me,
Pulls me to his chest,
I stare into his dark eyes,
And his lips meet mine,
And under the moon-filled sky,
He promises to love me,
For all time…
His love surrounds me,
Encircles me with truth,
Capturing that wild spirit,
Which once ran free among the earth,
And I am not fettered by his love at all,
Though I once feared its call,
I realize now,
I am free at last,
For love has blossomed,
And blooms once more,
In the Garden of Stone,
Beyond the Wall…
