I am so down,
Crashing to the ground,
See only the darkness of the world
Around me,
Not letting me see,
The beauty of the world at dawn,
I see the doe and her fawn,
And think only of her eventual death,
Drawing so shallowly,
My last breath…

Then you come,
And bring the sun,
Hearing your voice,
Telling me I am your choice,
That you see me,
And it’s okay to be afraid-
For you fear too,
And I wonder if I am a fool,
For loving you…

But then,
I hold your face in my hands,
Wondering who is this man?
Who laughs at the shadows and chases them away,
Loving me and holding them at bay…

I wonder who is this man?
How is it he understands
So very well all that I feel?
When all the others only wanted to kill,
That spirit I hide inside,
They couldn’t abide,
The dark you see,
But he loves it,
Because it’s part of me…

He laughs when he is sad,
Laughs when I get mad,
I touch his lips with my own,
Talk to him on the phone,
Silence his laughter that hides his pain,
Telling him our love has nothing to gain…

We meet in our dreams,
And he comes to me,
With love in his eyes,
Even when I try to tell him good-bye,
He says to softly;
“I will love you forever for you are mine,
Even if you were to leave,
You better believe,
That somewhere in the world lives a man,
That understands,
And loves all that you do-
This man will always love you…”

And I am torn by this,
Feel so deeply his lovely kiss,
Can’t leave now,
Don’t know how-
My heart beats only for his joy,
I pray I am not just another toy,
But when I hear his voice,
There is no choice,
But to love him so much,
Feeling his touch,
Savoring his love in my heart,
Even when we are apart…

I feel him as if he is near,
And watch my fear disappear,
When he is here,
Holding me in his arms,
Keeping me safe from harm,
Telling me the words I long to hear-
That somewhere in this dark land,
There lives a man,
Who sees and loves,
Me.
