Love Is Pain...

Love is pain,
Said my mother,
Nursing her bruised lip,
And I remembered him,
Sitting on her,
Choking her neck…

Love is pain,
That is what I learned,
In my journey through life,
And I escaped with jagged scars,
Nursed my wounds,
And bled out the pain,
Until I could live again…

Safe on the mountain,
Where none could touch my soul,
They could not stand the freezing cold,
Nor pry open my numb fingers
That I clutch tightly behind my back…

Then you came,
With your soft smile,
And gentle laugh,
And I tried to hold you at bay,
Knowing in my heart,
Love is Pain,

Something I don’t need,
But your gentle voice,
Haunts my nights,
And my days are filled
With the sound of your laughter,
And I find despite what I claim,

I love you…

If love is pain,
Then cut me,
Bleed out my heart,
And leave it high and dry,
For this is a feeling
For which I would gladly die…

When I am with you,
Nothing matters,
But the love you have for me,
And the love I feel for you…

If love is pain,
Then I take it gladly,
And thrust the knife edge
Of your love,
Deeply in my heart,
Twisting its handle,
To feel all the more,
The love I feel,
Before we close the door…

Cleaning out any wound is painful, a wounded heart the most painful, but true love is the salve that soothes and heals, just let it flow into your heart. Jackie <> <

Holy Shmoly, Retta, what a wonderful composition! A triumph over what was learned, a venturing into what could be and a finding that love can hurt, yet bring so much joy!! One of your best, Reindeer girl!! :)

We build walls, don't we? Nine foot walls that become difficult to tear down even when we're ready again.

I do like this.

Sometimes i think the gods give us the knowledge of pain, so we can know the difference, when we find love.
That is when we break the circle.
