Poem Artwork

Spatulas, Bounty Hunters, and Javelin Throwers

Some things when mixed together
Produce a perfect blend
It’s the outcome that tells us
How well they did
And what to recommend.

Monkeys, golf balls, and liars
Make a lovely combination
Writers, pens, and paper
Too much consternation.

Alcohol, guns, and Congress
The perfect match I’d say
Lock the doors
Don’t let ‘em out
Till after Labor Day.

Pretty boys, thugs, and prisons
How ugly can it get?
Money, thieves, and trust
Sounds like the new jet set.

Bankers, wankers, and pick pockets
Pretty much all the same
Hackers, slackers, and the NSA
Should make somebody’s day.

Runners, bikers, and hikers
A salute to fitness and health
Politicians, morticians, and magicians
A quick way to lose your wealth.

Hucksters, shysters, and mobsters
Not one has got a prayer
But wine, women, and song
A trio beyond compare!

Few trios are fairer than the second to last line. I'll second that with wine!

Sometimes your creativity surmounts your deadpan, well thought out, truth revealing articles. In fact, you reveal a lot of truth between the lines of this well constructed poem.

Wow ! I knew you would come to a concoction, a heady mix in the end like that. My sixth sense told me so. "Merci,"Jk
