Poem Artwork

Idiocy Isn’t What it Used to Be

Before AI changed your mood
And you bowed down in servitude
When two plus two equaled four
When old was old and new was something a little cleaner.
When an hour was one long tortuous minute
And the future showed that you were not in it.
When the tide went out right after you did
When Jack was Jack and Jill was too—
when she had to be seen with you.
When two of a kind beat a royal flush
Only when you were broke and desperate.
When courteous meant don’t spit on the floor
And romantic meant you knew three places to kiss her.
When you read poetry only when alone
And sex meant you knew how to catch an STD.
When tra-ra-ra boom-dee-ay
Meant you got yours yesterday
And you paid too much for it.

Those were the good old daze we were in and didn't have a clue whether it was a miracle or just sin.

Your poem has a lot of ironic truth to it. Especially during these days of great hypocrisy.
