I guess sometimes one meets someone and then life is totally changed; I wish I knew what to make of it.

Impact

I met her
I don’t think I was ready
Goddess
I’ve not recovered
I’ve not looked at the sky
The same way
Since her
Music
Smells
Colors
Of sunrise
Of sunset
Nothing’s the same
It’s being born again
But it’s not that easy
Trying to figure out how one fits in
Also
There’s the love factor
The imprint on the brain
The impact on the soul
I know it sure changed me
For better
Or for worse
For all it’s worth

Think knowing love does change you, for the better, it gives you comfort, a soulmate, happiness, trust, someone to help you through your troubles, she doesn't have to be a goddess, but just a person impacting your in a way that you need, and yet through it all, it was well worth it.....

This is beautiful and I hope good things have developed from this. Oh, we women can be so snoopy! Love from Meredith

One of my still favorite songs is...For What It's Worth, by the Buffalo Springfield. This poem reminds me so much of that song, and that song reminds so much of my torn apart life. We struggle every day to find a meaningful reason for our existence. I thought I found mine, but I can never be, because of one thing or another. My body will always be out of kilter with my soul, because I will never have the finances to afford what I know I need accomplished. Being one person in your soul, and then having to be someone completely opposite, because that is who society says you must be, is very devastatingly lonely and sad for those of us who were born "different." And because of that too, we live in a constant terror, not knowing what will come of the day. Thnx for sharing, dear brother. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whjom you love, and be with you always, and at you side constantly. With much love in my soul, stubborn to a fault, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your still very sad and terrified little sister, Barbie

"If I have to be this girl in me, Then I may as well be."

You've articulated that je ne sais quoi so well, Regis, and who knows the exact moment, minute, hour, day or week it will happen? Or where or in what way and with whom?! But when it does - BAM! Well, you have described the experience that is so unique to each one of us, and yet universal, in ways that evoke power and tenderness as well as preciousness. "For better Or for worse For all it's worth" - enduring and magical lines. TY and bless you. May the moment last forever. LOL Kate xx

Regis, you've penned a thoughtful poem here about growth and learning from our experiences in love and the loss of our loves, the balancing of joy and sorrow. Your lines say the narrator has not recovered yet and is in a state of being born again. The lines strike chords of truth in me. When we go through relationships and they fail or seem to fail as in not go the way we would have liked and then come to end, we do experience trauma akin to death. However, if we don't wallow in the loss too long and take time to heal, we will experience rebirth, a new burst of spiritual and emotional growth, and be stronger because of it. Our sorrows only change us for the worse when we cling to the darkness and refuse to learn the lessons that God wants to teach us. If we acknowledge our own darkness, but embrace light and learn, it's all good. :-) ~~Nordette

I'm hoping you don't land in the same poignant state of soul that you described in "Bittersweet". But it seems that your feet are on the ground and you've found a still place within the storm from where you can reflect. That said, embrace the tumult and change! Poets can't escape it anyhow, it seems.

Beautiful Poem and very heartfelt. The impact that some leave on us stronger than others you do have to wonder but I feel like it's so when later on in life we need to feel comfort we can always feel the comfort of love which we all need.and like you say it changed you. we need to get things from others each person each thing that happens to us changes us and that's our destiny. We must learn not to sulk about the changes but embrace them. I'm learning slowly about that one. Took me long enough. I hate change but am learning to accept it not graciously either. I can really relate to this poem. very heartfelt and true.
