There are dreams from which I wish I would not awaken...
Dying In a Dream
i am dreaming You are flying flying i am flying too Not afraid Falling falling To the sea i am dreaming You are swimming swimming i am swimming too Breathing water Not afraid Your siren’s song The notes multicoloured A kaleidoscope of spherical rainbows i swallow your voice Such sweet poison i am dreaming You are killing killing Killing me gently With your lullaby i am dying dying i never want to awaken
Sometimes there are indeed dreams from which we do not want to awaken. Nice poem Regis. One thing I am curious about is why you write the pronoun i in lower case. Any particular reason?

Great stuff again Regis. Reminds me a little of my poem "Feel This." We keep bumping into the same themes all across the poetic spectrum.
Hi Regis, The first thing that came to mind while reading this was a movie called "What Dreams May Come". Also, this piece could have been written for my sister. I call her lovesick, because she can't live her life above it and would die in her dream of it, if she could. Great write, my friend.

I love the imagery flowing through your words, the haunting melody that plays so softly across the screen. :)
A beautiful picture accompanies this piece. Love the repetition in this poem - gives power to your words, almost like an echo under water or an aftershock.
Wonderful moving write. Sounds like you are astral traveling in your dreams, full of pain and lost loves.

Reg,
I like the way you succumb to the siren's song: flying, falling, swimming, killing. No way to return once the lullaby brings you to sleep.
My very best regards,
Chris
Hey Regis,
I can't recall the page number right off-hand for Dying In A Dream but I'm sure I'll find it under Classic Masochism in the American Psychiatric Association's DSM-III (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Third Edition), Evalution Classification 302.83.
But don't worry, Regis, I'm sending my personal dominatrix right over. I usually give her Saturdays off; but as a favor for a valued customer, she agreed to take on a weekender. Be patient, of course. It may take her awhile to get there. (In tune with the nature of the problem, she's swimming over.)
And don't fret too much, Regis. It's normal to act insane once in a while! I indulge myself, regularly.
Richard
P.S.
Did I remember to mention the psychosocial ramifications of suicide ideation? Stick with me. I can get you a cut-rate price on therapy.
Okay, I'll admit my doctor had his license revoked. But he's cheap!
He'll kill you with kindness, and you know how that goes: gentle as a lullaby.
As the man used to say on Laugh-In: "Very interesting, poem, Heinrich!"
I love the echoe of words and the imagery that you have shared. Your poetry always has a way of touching me like no other.
~hugs~

I always enjoy your work, but I think I am watching you grow as a poet. I hope you don't find me arrogant when I say that Regis. There is something different about these poems. I don't know what it is? You are playing with words more. Painting with them like an artist. It's beautiful.
A well written poem! I liked the association of wonderful dreams flying and falling to the sea,and to die and not awaken, coz such a dream is indeed life affirming.
Cheers! Reg
breathless, this left me breathless is the only way i can think to describe the whole, the sensations so felt and this dream, simply one wondrous piece, a siren song, yet a dream of a dream as well...loved this!

Fantasy and so well done is the repeating in this poem. Peace To you Regis.
I like the spirit of your latest poem very much.
I must say thought i am not too keen on the double words
ie "flying flying" etc. In my own opinion it doesn't allow it to flow in a way that makes it "feel" flowing.

hmm..THIS dream seems very familiar..indeed so much so that I am left feeling quite perplexed..aaaaah the mystery of life and realities..what is dream and what is not..
Thankyou for this wondrous piece..yup it is making me scratch my head..why DOES this dream of YOURS feel so familiar..Oh well..questions questions!
The lesson is plain, Regis, never become so consumed in another that you lose yourself...you never will, because you awakened, not just in body but also in spirit. Sometimes it is such pretty poison that we believe that if we should die while consuming it that we will find eternal happiness, but happiness is a gift that we give to ourself and we find it through our inner strength and self love. Nice work, Reg.
Take care,
Sherry
Oh, Regis, I'm just a simple woman. I want this to end at the rainbow line. Until then, it is such a thrilling dream.
It's an absorbing story; I just can't take the dying part.

In the context of the Somali literature this is a song with all its lyrics buried within itself, awaiting only someone who can expertly excavate the music laced in the verses. Wonderful write. Thanks dear Regis Auffray
The song of the sirene can only be heard by few. It is said that her voice calls for her rescue when, indeed...it was her decieving heart seeking solace from revenge in a sad lament of a broken dream. History never changes when it comes to love...it just changes the faces.
Very well penned and you know I love it...It's the sea, afterall.
