I Wonder
Upon waking
When I witness your loveliness
On the widescreen of my mind
I wonder where you are
I wonder how you are feeling
I worry somewhat
Feel uneasiness on edge
In case you may be hurting
Or wanting or feeling like me
I can always hope and wish
I wonder what you are thinking
I wonder if you are thinking of me
As I think of you all the time
From waking to sleeping
Sleeping to waking
Waking to sleeping
I wonder if you miss me
At least a little
I wonder if you miss my kiss
The way I miss yours
I wonder if you miss my words
My promises
Which I always intend to keep
I wonder if I will ever see you again
In this life
I remember my feelings
As I first saw you again
As I remember your words
Your promises
How I want to believe in you and I do
I wonder what will come to be
Maybe not in this life… …that would be sad
Better than giving up though
Patience is a virtue it is said
I wonder as I love you
As I did from the start
And ever do

When someone has passed on
We have lots to wonder about
even if there are no answer.
Thanks for sharing, Regis.

an emphatic need to wonder...speculate curiously...
to doubt...agonize puzzled...It is said that absence
makes a heart grow fonder...closer...and as George
Eliot (her pen name) put it:
"What greater thing is there for two human souls that
to feel that they are joined...to strengthen each other
...to be at one with each other in silent unspeakable
memories..."
Thank you for sharing your poetic words of painful longing.
Sherrie' summary says it all. My "Wonder Woman" was my very first true love.
I did something stupid at age 20. Joined the Army Reserves to avoid the Draft.
Got "Dear John" letter while in Basic Training . Ft. Knox. Often wondered & thought about her for many years. Located her about 50 years later. Talked by phone for about 1/2 hour. Married happily still. 2 adult sons. Once in a Blue Moon I actually drive by her home out of adolescent curiosity... but no nerve to knock on door.
Athough I am "free" she isn't... afraid to "rock the boat." But the fond memories of that 1st Love will follow me to the grave! WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN ! P.S. altho was married & with one woman for 34+ years, my 'torch' is for SUE... not my EX !
PEACE...
Love ya!

Like all things, I got over it… But once in a while, I think like you have in this poem.

and love to invoke them, But I have never wondered about the things
you describe. Perhaps I am not a true lover.
If I did I might wonder who's kissing her now. Not a good thought.
I don't wonder about your honesty or your writing skills.
As....it..goes...where there's love there's hope :
Have a good day Regis

Very sweet poem, Regis. Just as so many of your poems are. However, maybe you wonder too much. Easy to reach a point of diminishing returns with that exercise. Have you let the woman know your feelings?
All the best!
Verses to uphold your heart for she is ever
surrounding you with hope. Beautiful~

What woman would not be touched -and moved - by the profound beauty and romance of your heart, Regis!
Undoubtedly... she IS thinking of you, too!
Fare thee well, my Friend..
Love and hugs, Rhonda
