Swan Reflections

Smoothly sailing slowly gliding
on lake of mirrored mountains
and glaciers of ancient ice
pure white and glistening
you live your days

in reflections

Silently swimming among lofty evergreens
never touching their bowing boughs
as they revere your passing presence
from high above
you glide over them
on crystal water
you live your days

in reflections

You could be a cloud
or an angel

a reflection of my love

But you are
Swan
serene and sweet
and ever so lovely

reminding me of her

How could I do anything
but love you?

Your poem reminded me of watching the swans elegantly gliding along a winter stream in Yellowstone. The image, though more than thirty years old, remains vivid in my mind.

How beautiful! Yes, swans are more than mere birds. They seem to bring us closer to our better selves. Wonderful poem.

I often watch the swans when I'm walking or cycling along the canal. They are so graceful and wonderful, so different from the little moorhens and ducks that inhabit the same waters. Once in a while, I will spot a heron or crane standing silently observing the scene.

Sbelius's tone poem Swan of Tuonela is slow and mysterious and beautiful, a nice bit of work, Regis.

Swans certainly are serene. Glad they're coming back to American waterways that are being cleaned up so that they will. When I look at swans, I think of their beauty as birds. When you look at swans you see lost love.

"you live your days in reflections"

Now, that's a notion to reflect upon!

Well done, Regis.

SOMETIMES IT'S A SONG. SOMETIMES IT'S WORDS, PERHAPS A QUOTE OR AN OLD CLICHE. SOMETIMES IT'S AN AROMA, COME ON A FLEETING BREEZE OUT OF THE BLUE. SOMETIMES IT'S A MANNERISM THAT IS SO MUCH LIKE...
AND SOMETIMES IT'S A BIRD, A BEAUTIFUL SWAN, WHICH BRINGS BACK A MEMORY OF SOMEONE INDEED SO SPECIAL...AND WE ARE ELATED TO CONTENTEDLY SAVOR IT, HAVING NEVER FORGOTTEN THEM. DONE SO WELL...I ENJOYED THIS SHARING IMMENSELY, THANKS REGIS. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Very beautiful....This poem reminds me when I lived on a river in Virginia and the Swans would gather, especially in the winter.

Still Living on my Feet is the follow up to Tichaona Chinyelu’s first book, In the Whirlwind, which was rooted in a sense of hard-hitting revolutionary black love. However, in this sophomore effort, Tichaona brings the revolutionary essence from deep
