My poetry’s gone,

I don’t know where,

I can’t think of what to write I swear,

But somewhere deep,

In the back of my mind,

Is a verse, a story or nursery rhyme,

As yet unwritten,

Therefore unread,

That’s tormenting me, in the back of my head,

Is it tragic? Or joyous?

I haven’t a clue,

A fictional tale? Or historically true ?

Is the hero a Troll? A man? or a mouse?

I can’t seem to focus on what it’s about,

But it has to be written,

Or it will drive me insane,

Oh! Damn it, Oh! Damn it, I’ve lost it again,

Now, was it going to be funny?

Or was it going to be sad?

I can’t seem to remember the stanza’s I had,

Was it poetry? Prose?

Or maybe a song?

I had it just now but it seems to be gone,

Washed from my mind,

Like the tides ebb and flow,

My poetry’s gone, wasn’t I telling you so?.

Steve, I just stopped by your site after receiving your review of my poem. I haven't been here before, but I like what I've read. Got many more to go, but wanted to say how much I liked this one. Dick

I agree with both Sherri and Connie you have to carry a pen or pencil
with you (and paper) always so you can write down each and every line that pops into that poetic mind of yours .However, your frustration of 'not remembering' has delivered a cute and funny gem for your fans to read...only you could make a poem out of not being able to!!!you are amazing.
Hugs to you and Sally

your friend

Time to start carrying pen and paper in your pocket! We can all empathize with your frustration, but this poem is the fruit of it,so "all's well that ends well."
