I’m not a quantum physicist,
Nor boffin of the age,
And if I took the test for Mensa,
I’d not get past the opening page.

But this thing called quantum theory,
Has got me so intrigued,
It makes us question what we know,
And everything we believe.

Though it’s questions seem to make no sense,
To the wise man, fool or wit,
Such as does the moon exist at all?
If no-one looks at it,

Or is it the act of looking,
That brings it into being?
If so then nothing else exists,
Except what someone else is seeing,

I know, I know, it’s crazy,
Total lunacy,
But any quantum physicist,
Could explain it brilliantly,

They’ll go on and on for hours,
About a dead cat in a box,
And ask, can you prove the cat is dead,
If no-one ever looks?

They’ll mention the time and space continuum,
Black holes and other things,
How time is not from here to there,
But more as a jumbled mess of string,

Where one string joins another,
In a million different places,
Making travelling through time as easy,
As travelling through space is,

Or from dimension to dimension,
Though not possible yet, clearly,
Anything is possible,
In the realm of quantum theory,

Like being in two places,
At exactly the same time,
It could fry your neural receptors,
Or in layman’s terms, just blow your mind.
