We have seen such meanness between us
Here between the cracks in the USA
How it can degrade and demean us
Now bedeviled by incivility
Hoping for spring to bring hope I say
Though not knowing much I think I believe
In something better coming our way
Causing the cause of something worse to leave
Behold the unfolding lotus of
Us collectively recollecting who
We are and always wanted to be
Collecting ourselves hauntedly by love
To get it or forget it and do
What needs to be done everyone can see
To save the world or try anyway
Having been held down wake up and shake free
I have seen hope through the cracks that dawn
Is out there waiting to come back someday
It takes hope for us to make it through
This but we can do this hope says to me
The lotus unfolds and we do too
A change of season getting underway
Love will be the reason we achieve
A better understanding finally
The meanness between us may be gone
Someday soon as we find out more about
What was behind it as it comes out
And getting it together we go on
