Otherwise One and Only

When I went crazy I went alone
Like everyone does if they do
All by myself into the unknown
But in the unknown I found you
I had thought it was only me but
Maybe not meant to be lonely
You were on your way to crazy too

So I thought if I had to be
Mad I was glad to know someone who
Was going through it too so we
Could compare notes there see how it was

Doing our best with what we got
As our lot through no fault of our own
Whether we wanted to or not
Hauntedly we were wanting to see
Could two like us be understood
Alone but together you and me?

Ready or not we said we could
Felt we should or thought we ought to try
And would be then as now because
It feels good to be understood by
Someone who could when someone does
One and anotherwise you and I

Two of us each otherwise now
Going alone together the way
We do through the unknown somehow
Not lonely knowing us anyway

I thank you now and this is how
Franziska for having come this far
With me to be one of us two
Who understand us the way we are
Knowing what we are going through
Madly but gladly going with you
My otherwise one and only

It's always good to have a good friend to share our thoughts together. I am happy for you and her too. Nice poem!

Sounds like a good start. Words from a romantic heart.
