Stillness in the summer air,
night surrounding like a dark shroud,
eyes staring from some distant place,
peering sharply into the soul.
Memories linger in hidden shadows,
whispers are soft and persistent,
creatures call from their secret realms,
as the heart cannot be silenced.
How weary, footsteps travel forward,
Futility remains an unwelcome friend,
as only shreds of moonlight remain,
in a garden once sweetly rife with life.
