I’m smiling, I’m joyful, I’m hopeful inside
The world, my world, my corner, the light peaks thru
A spark that used to be
A flame, beginning to come alive again
The fire once burned bright, strong; a powerhouse
Invincible, so she thought
Confidence eroded slowly,
even unbeknownst to her
the roar gone, replaced by a meow,
body image stripped away
mental prowess left in the hay
Illness came and stole the last tiny remnants inside
Eventually, disappearing were the weak, negative family and friends
Those who turned their backs and walked away during years of difficult times
made me wonder, if I had, even one bolt of thunder left inside
She once said where have you gone, the spark no longer there,
Your personality promotes despair
Inside I begged, please don’t leave me,
they heard the plea
but walked away, saying “Ah, don’t bug me.”
Your going nowhere, I really don’t care
What can you offer me in my superior realm,
I can plainly see you’ll never sit at any helm
Those I held dear said I bid you goodbye
my friendship to you has been a lie
When you were all I wanted you to be,
I wanted to be cozy, you see
Boy or girl,
all wanted to take me for a twirl
They stayed close when they could boast, I want to hang out with you
When I lost myself
These people left me too,
I was crushed when they turned their backs,
telling me I was nothing, in fact
Then slowly I crept out,
Bringing her with me,
Others, also could see
Real people, those with depth, heart, soul
and inner love reached for my hand
sharing God’s endless beauty
reminding me, I have a voice inside, nothing
to hide and much to give
My brain is beginning to tick
I’ve crawled out from under the brick
My background, my lessons, my education, my support system enabled me to peddle thru
So many positive things coming my way,
I can only say, the universe is shining down on me
It’s not material, money, home or stuff,
Nor the warmth of puppies, people or nature
Simply said, “It’s the encompassing hug, the surrounding warmth and knowing I’m blessed from above.”
