Dedicated to all who have had to bear the lost of a loved one through the tragedy of war. A soldier accepts his fate but those he leaves behind bears his grief.

You gasp for air, dare quest to breathe,
your final moment near.
Mere words won't soothe a waning heart,
man's grief so hard to bear.

Precious life slips through these hands,
it stains the soil beneath.
That helpless stare within those eyes,
surrenders to defeat.

Hereafter pain, you'll know no more,
a soul may not be bound.
Least of all, a life is worth,
it's stance on Holy Ground.

This broken heart will ne're forget,
each faithful beat remains.
Time and Place we'll make our stance,
when we shall meet again.

This is truly inspired, Paul, because it balances the whole picture to perfection: bravery, resignation, grief, pain and love without self-pity, revenge or any other negativity. And it is ever the more powerful and hard-hitting because of that. A very fine piece of writing and an even finer testimony to the nobility that there is yet in a human heart. May love and grace ever triumph over hatred and anger. You show us the way here, thank you. Kate xx

Any loss of a loved one is a most painful experience.
How glad we can be for God's promise to resurrect these
we love, to life on a far better earth than we know now.
An excellent piece of writing, Paul.

Paul, you knew this was going to make me cry didn't you? Yes, they do bear the grief of those that are lost. They bear it and they grit their teeth in sorrow.
We can't let their lives be lost in vain, we have to pick up the weight and carry it through.
We are our Brother's keeper.
Beautiful write Paul. Thank You!
