She loved him more than he loved her
The last laugh was hers alone.

Marjory

She loved a bright lad, not really bad, a play boy now you would say

He loved her back, with reserve oh alack; he'd marry money one day

Mama suspicious, demanded his wishes, your future my daughter lad……

His eyes cried beware as he squirmed in his chair, and the news had to be bad

Your daughter I love, a jewel a sweet gem, but sadly shaking his head

My bride must be, a great heiress you see, the one that I take in my bed

Then go, young cad, despicable lad, shame for breaking her heart

Get on your own way; from this house stay away, forever you must depart.

She cried and cried all the night through, her heart truly was broken

From that day on, now he was gone, his name never was spoken

An empire she grew, with her mind, it is true , her life devoted to numbers.

His life it seems, just filled with dreams, his marriage just one of his blunders

Time moved on, Madge stayed strong, a fortune not all that she won

In Sydney she found, a Gentleman sound, at last her old life was done

Married and happy, with Scotty dog baby, and settled in elegant bliss

Mama was proud; her daughter had found all that idiot lad missed.
