Those Who Might Say
(For Terry)

There are those who might say
that reaching out to another
and totally opening the heart;
to show another the Truth within
is a sign of tremendous courage.
Risking all, as the defenses crumble
into a sea of emotion, we become
lost and don’t know how to defend
the marrow of heart’s walls anymore.

I could not let you just walk by,
to much had passed coincidence…
and all my instincts went into overdrive.
I lost the capacity to steer;
and perhaps you, through your pain
lost your ability to hear…just too much, too much.

I showed you my Truth, you chose someone
else’s…and thought my mixed up façade
was who I am.
I cannot convince you…you either know
or you don’t ~ but our inner instinct has
been trained to explore; to reach out,
to see and to know someone we know not.

It saddens me that you walked away thinking
of me as just another enemy – that is so what
was not intended; and the last view I have of
you is such a kind, and gentle soul, wounded
to the core and feeling so lost.

You always made me feel so very alive
when our eyes met, and your inspiration
created wings within, I lifted my heart
and I soared at the sight of you.

I recognize now that the meeting was kindred;
the love perhaps not ever meant to be,
but you have buried yourself alive in
the basement of your heart .
You will find no monster within if you look,
but you will see the tear-stained face of your soul
looking back at you, perhaps this is what you fear.

Would that I could touch away every tear
with the tender energy of a gift, as a star to
heal you; a universe to comfort you, or an
angel to protect you

My heart is now spent, and as I end this
note to you, I will ask the Lord in prayer,
be it His will…that this will reach you and bring
comfort to a soul that has known and weathered
a thousand storms.

Your friend always…

In any relationships that falter and come to an end there is always a sense of loss and often anger. This could be directed at the partner, at themselves of at the world. Sad thing is the best we can hope for is to give them time to come around and accept that we are not the enemy
You captured this well...
