Banana Appeel - Term 2

(My daughter usually took a banana to school for morning tea. One day for some strange reason I wrote a message on one and of course, as any parent knows, this instantly became a firm, and unbreakable, family "tradition". So then each day along with her banana my daughter took a little poem from her dad - just big enough to fit on a banana. Not only that but reading my daughter's banana at morning tea became a bit of a class "tradition" at school. Then someone said "you know you should write these down on something a little more permanent". - So here is a running record of some of my banana peel poems coming to you as they happened!

Term 1 is already posted and Term Three is acommin'.)

This banana's name is Alita
And I could think of nothing sweeter.
Unless of course you know
The girl who's about to eat her!
---------------ooOoo----------------

Many books have been written on flowers
And quite a lot on animals too,
And if a picture is worth a thousand words
I guess this banana's worth a few!
---------------ooOoo----------------

Some bananas have quite clean skins
But some are rather spotty,
So if you're really what you eat
Would they make you a little dotty?
---------------ooOoo----------------

Big bananas can be quite filling
So wouldn't it be a ripper
If to save a little for later on
Each Banana came with a zipper!
---------------ooOoo----------------

Bursting with the brightness of sunshine,
Full of energy and goodness too,
All wrapped in a pretty package.
Gee! This banana's nearly nice as you!
---------------ooOoo----------------

Though shaped a little like a boomerang,
Its finer abilities most bananas lack.
But scoff them down a little too fast
And sometimes they may just come back!
---------------ooOoo----------------

Beneath the fronds the banana sits
As she grows plumper and sweeter,
And wonders how far she will travel,
Before somebody grabs her and eats her!
---------------ooOoo----------------

With no chores or homework to do
A banana's life is kind of neato.
It has no room to keep tidy,
Just a pity everybody wants to eat you!
---------------ooOoo----------------

The banana is not unlike a new moon,
As yellow and curved as you please.
But of course it's all just a silly idea,
Who ever heard of a banana made of cheese!
---------------ooOoo----------------

This banana comes with
A simple wish of a sort.
That hopefully you find it has not
Accidentally gone squish in your port!
---------------ooOoo----------------

This banana will get softer
As it ripens in the larder,
But while the banana gets softer
Writing something on it gets harder.
---------------ooOoo----------------

Bananas are long and yellow,
The reason is quite profound.
You'd have to call them apples
If they were red and round.
---------------ooOoo----------------

Bananas are quite soft and mellow.
Their flesh is creamy and their skin is yellow.
As for healthy they're as good as can be.
Oh well, at least two out of three!
---------------ooOoo----------------

These poems are so treasurable in terms of their own values and the sentiment that goes with them. I urge you to have them published. It's worth the efforts!
