Insolence in Emerald

There was a man with manners
impeccable,
who wore silk shirts
in jewel-tones, open
at the throat to display
bristly chest hairs.
I am a Man, the hairs attested.
This man
overflowed
with hand gestures
huge and fluttery.
His hands were bluebirds
let loose in Eden.
Butterflies come to nap
on a leather-clad steering wheel.
I am a Man, his gear shaft proclaimed.
I asked him to say nipple
for me. Just once.
N-i-p-p-l-e.
For no more reason than to watch
the syllables bounce
between his plump Brazilian lips.

But he could not

and left
in shame.

Funny how they proclaim to be men, but when it comes to something as simple as saying nipple, they get red faced and either don't say anything, or stammer and stutter, or just get up and leave. Giggle. I really enjoyed this one. Men 0, Patricia 1 (giggle).

Patricia,

Many covers are different than what they appear to be. Being able to see what's beyond that cover is priceless.

I know . . . er . . . knew that man. Last time I saw him he was performing over at Muscle Beach. Good stuff.

Patricia, this is a terrific character/caricature-sketch:

"This man
overflowed
with hand gestures
huge and fluttery.
His hands were bluebirds
let loose in Eden.
Butterflies come to nap
on a leather-clad steering wheel."

It says volumes about the man and about the scene with compact elegance.
