Lonely heart and soul of mine
Looking, waiting, wanting a sign
Aimlessly wandering, looking ahead
No feelings or thoughts; Inside I am dead
Pleading with self; Find peace; Soon please
Asking God for guidance, on bended knee
Crackling voice and tears flowing free
Wondering how on earth that this became me
Tortured child I was back then
Never telling a soul and forcing a grin
Containing it all within my own mind
Forgetting the past, nevermore to find
Glimpses and visions of things now old
Including myself, I’m constantly told
Attempting to hide from what happened to me
Running now quickly, just wanting to be free
But the past is much faster than I’ll ever be
Scratching and clawing its way back to me.
