This is a poem about the loss of my youngest son, Jason. He took his own life, Aug.03,2007 and it broke his family's hearts.

No More Miles To Go


When I got that call that dark summer morn,
I got a feeling of doom and felt so forlorn.
Knowing my son probably took his own life,
The son I loved, swore to protect with my life.

I half ran up the hill to the house where he lay,
Not daring to hope, and trying to pray.
The flashing lights on that dark summer morn,
Told me the truth of the deed he had done.

The night air was hot, but I felt so cold,
As I struggled to hear the words I was told.
No hope, he’s gone, the policeman did say,
We did all we could, he couldn’t be saved.

In the dark cold world of his tormented mind,
When his hopes and dreams all fell apart.
No chance of reprieve, no chance of any kind,
Just sorrow and pain from a broken heart.

When did it first began to go wrong,
Why did his world go awry?
He had such hopes and dreams for so long,
Now the future is passing him by.

Deep sadness is what he feels all the time,
No happiness, only sorrow and grief.
In the dark cold world of his tormented mind,
It comes in his life like a thief.

In his heart he feels that he’s all alone,
He thinks his chance of a life very slim,
That even God has deserted him.
In his heart he has to atone.


In the dark, cold world of his tormented mind,
It’s the only solution, he feels,
To the valley of death he feels he must go,
A reprieve from the heartache and grief.



But I know some glorious day we’ll arise,
And we’ll see our dear Savior’s face.
Then all our beloved ones will be at our side,
Then will end this terrible race.
