I just returned from a trip where I went to this magical place.
Down the street
I hear the roar
of race cars
the time has come again
cotton candy, little donuts
hot dogs
Each booth I pass
smelling better
than the last
Crowds of people
walking together
looking
so happy
so excited
Coming to the Midway
I walk through magic, neon gates
People laughing, screaming
trying out the newest rides
The blaring music
I love it loud
The yelling of carnies
calling us in
at the great state fair
You took me there. Memories of going to the Center, Wisconsin State Fair for many years and even working there on the midway for two years making lots of money before starting school.
My last experience was at a conference in Dallas where we were given lots of tickets to the Texas State Fair. It was a grand evening we spent there with reminders of my youth all around… Especially the inviting smells from all the food being prepared. Magical wherever you go.
