Betrayal

Betrayal as the tear drop fell

I watch you walk away

Knowing I’ve been turned by fate

To only lead your way

I smile to keep the tears away

In hopes you will not know

To see if ever trust be born

But sadly resounds no

Time again you always stray

Without a care for me

How simple man has thought he fooled

This lady truly be

I rise above the pain again

For as I always do

While lustful nights do hold you

In arms that were not new

I sit as tears are falling

But say you love me true

I mend my heart of pieces

Know I am no fool

But tell me do you need to know

What love be truly is

For naught have this old foolish man

Nary know it never did

My heart doth know the sun will rise

For surely always did

The tears will dry the heart will mend

My life will smile again

But foolish man is sure to know

That when he does now find

Love so true within his heart

He lost her now behind

Lessons hard on life’s path

For both of them you see

He lost his love when she held fast

Such sadness is to see
