New Year's Resolution

Do you make/keep New Year's resolutions? Here is a fun swipe at some of the commonly failed New Year's promises.

So this is it - your New Year's resolution.
A positive and worthwhile contribution.
A change, you say, for better.
You'll stick by it to the letter.
But let's see how oft it 'comes an institution?

"I'm going to stop smoking, and I stress,
that quitting will improve my health I guess
I'll stop it now - completely.
No. next week. I'll stop discretely.
No. that's still too hard. I'll just try smoking less."

...The conclusion to this poem is among one of 100 poems in Shane P Ward's compilation, LOL Poems (Poems that will make you Laugh Out Loud). Available through Synergebooks from Christmas 2012. See http://www.shaneward.co.uk/Books.html

Goood writing here. I made a resolution to stop eating bread, same as last year, but I gained 25 lbs in a year's time, so not happy about that either. Will diet and try again, need to lose for health's sake. Like to read about the different NY's resolutions, so your post is very acceptable to me.

If we don't succeed with the smoking and the drinking resolutions, we can always submit to PC Decree to ensure that we do!

I agree on making New Year's resolution in that most of the ones that people do often fail. Maybe just one in that I will try to read more.
