The awful reality that is the fur trade. Not for sensitive readers / viewers.
She ran her fingers tenderly
over the edge of her collar
fingering the fabulous fur
with almost feline sensuality
Completely oblivious
to the blood that stained her neck
and dripped between her breasts...

Fellow Poets and Authors,
If you are sensitive, avoid watching this YouTube video at all costs. As an animal lover I could not bear to watch these gruesome images and I am infuriated that this practice continues. Please support PETA. Visit www.peta.org and refuse to buy fur.
Interesting way to show how the author feels about people wearing the fur taken from dead animals raised for that purpose--unecessary today since there are so many alternatives to keep us warm.
Short but Sharp! I must say this is the sad reality. We are consumers without a conscience at times. I recently saw a documentary about the mistreatment of animals in California and it definitely makes you think twice about life and all things that are blessed to live. All in all the code of nature supercedes man's hand for greed. I truly believe that regardless of our position on the food chain we all animals included have a right to life and just a little bit of damn happiness! I enjoyed your vivid images in this poem and encourage you to write on for the cause sista!
OMG!!! I had goose bumps watching this sort of cruelty.....how can humans kill, no those animals are still alive for crying out loud! That is so CRUEL!!!!!!
Beautiful Photo Chanti,
I have Furs That I Call "Foe-Paw"
There are imposers of mink, raccoon, fox ect.
It is a terrible terrible thing of the video which I cannot watch.
Your Poetic Express Totally Fits!!!
This is a lovely photo of a Siberian Husky, and it is a shame that there are those who have no conscience, killing fox, mink, or other animals that can be turned into furs, for the overly rich woman. I had thought that there was a trend toward faux furs, but I guess I am wrong.
Those that have to mercilessly kill animals, to make money, have missed the boat of life.
Thanks for sharing, Chanti.
May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), little sister, Barbie
Thank you Chanti and hopefully others will read and see what selfish people are doing to our beautiful fury friends. This really upsets me so. Thank you for sharing.

OMG!!! I shaking with rage..no wonder there are so many wars on earth..as long as we kill our so-called LOWER brothers we kill ourselves..As Tolstoy said;-
“As long as there are slaughterhouses (slaughter in general) there will always be war.”
I made it actually half way through the video, just to have those images burned into my mind. I understand and respect those who cannot bare to see, but for I cannot bare to ignore.
Thank you for your courage!

Chanti, I could not (knowing well with full intent) watch that video link for I could already imagine what is in it. These things have always angered me and have shaken my soul to no end. Our Creator has left us Humans in charge of the animals on this planet (some even for our inspiration) but with the need to care for them as creatures such as we are. Those who are inhumane shall answer for this callousness towards any and all animals particularly those who do so for profit or to wear their pelts and other parts for vanity. I can only thank you for this message and hope someday that the rest of the world will wake up to this cruel fact. I wish to you the best of luck and success in all your endeavors.

A brilliant image of the ignorance which accompanies frivolous human desires. I particularly liked the use of alliteration. How can we ever expect to treat our fellow humans with dignity and respect when we can't even do so to our fellow creatures?
...this pens voice speaks loudly...saying much...giving every reason to contemplate the actions of others...and ones thoughts.
excellent ~Chanti...

Very visual poem it's message is loud and clear. I like it a lot. I was confused by the Video having no relation to it. Oops, looked at the wrong video. I couldn't watch much of the other one. I don't have a strong a stomache for brutality.
I didn't watch. I want to sleep tonight. But I easily do without fur. Even if I could afford it, I don't want it. Your few words spoke volumes to me. Liz
I watched a video years ago,,I believe it was on 20/20 ,a hidden camera of the killing of cats for fur,,, I to this day am still so sickened so no I can not watch this,, as it tears my guts out,, so sad,,, and how many to make one fur?? One is too many,,,,, Just read your bio,Such wonderful expierences and ventures you have had,, best wishes on your upcoming films ,,, very exciting.

George, I agree that sometimes people need to be shocked into taking action and I also agree with your stand against abortion as you probably know based on previous works but I've never been so angered by a video as I was by this one. Anyone who watches it will know what I mean. It completely confounds me to think that human beings can be so cruel as to skin these animals alive. The image of one of the live animals lifting it's head after being skinned will stay with me forever. I wish I hadn't seen the images shared in this video and yet I felt compelled to share them because I think that sometimes people do need to be shocked into taking a stand. I have gained an understanding as to why PETA representatives sometimes seem to be so radical in their approach. After watching this, I could quite cheerfully kill the bastards. Anyone who knows me will know how out of character this kind of aggressive talk is but watch the video and tell me you don't feel the same.
Thanks to everyone else for your comments and support. I have a feeling that the video link wasn't working. I just had to post up the URL again. Once again, please be warned that the footage shown is gruesome and disturbing. NOT FOR SENSITIVE PEOPLE!!!

Cruelty to animals make the man the animal in the garb of civilisation!
I'm already with you Chanti. I wouldn't wear a stich of fur on my body unless I happened to be holding my kitty Simon. There is no beauty in killing an animal so the rich can drape themselves in pelts. When I see fur coats, I see murder. This is a short, yet VERY dramatic statement in poetry my friend. Love Michelle.
Excellent poetry,
Your sensitivity shines through the sad images. Canadian Mounties now protect the Baby Harp Seal killers from people so they can carry out their gruesome ritual.
I am apalled with the insensitivity of a people who thrive on the income of killing the beauty of animals who cannot defend themselves. You bring forth a subject of which we should all support...such a sad reality...
Wish they would show a live abortion and sicken the public to this atrocious killing of unborn humans, 47 million todate, yet we sanction it and even defend it as a right which it is not and is not in the Constitution of the United States.
Back in the day, those that killed animals used all parts of the animal: for food, for their skins, for warmth. Now, we kill animals for just their fur, because of greed. Sad...your opening lines are spot on, perfect accompanyment for the grusome images. Well done.
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
My book of poetry is being redone by me, I have a beautiful cover designed and the book will have a few more than 200 poems in it. I am going to have it printed on demand here in Canada. When it is done I will let you know when it is done and if anyo
I did not see the video - I did not have to.
Yours words are few but powerful. Keep writing!
