I wrote this when I first moved back home to California from Arizona. I was living in a shelter for 4 months, being an instant grandma to my 3 small granddaughters (ages 2, 2, and 7) and didn't know but one person who I met in the psych ward after a suicide attempt from my prescriptions whereafter I was then living in an SLE (sober living environment) and hating it, but loving being with my family again after being gone for 10 years. My husband visited from Arizona with a warrant and I was detoxing off benzos and opiates. I was very sick but so grateful to be free from meth. I just used doctors instead, legally. These days were new - before I moved up north with my daughter and she kicked me out to live in a little studio all alone. This is the promise "before" I became agoraphobic and alone without transportation or a husband living with me. I was so happy at first coming back home.
Life in Marin My Second Life I got here on June 1^st ’08 with dreams of family There came to be a sober life and deep humility At New Beginnings I learned to live inside the labyrinth And found the Sabbath in my heart to God a little hint Along the road I tripped and fell into a pile of pills Then moved into an SLE above in mighty hills Among the people that I met I made a special friend She makes my day most every day, my health she’s helped to mend I grew inside with family but most with Isabelle My hardened heart got soft with prayer and broke my outer shell My husband came and went so fast while both of us were sick Our future changed when he got home, a lifestyle not our pick The holidays stored precious love and now on New Years Day A brand new life as family for this I truly pray I’m asked to share a home up north with Baby Doll and Mom To make this trip I couldn’t have planned to find a perfect home.
