Ha ha. I always ignore critics. That's because I don't write for them, I write for me. I think perhaps critics are to attached to the theory of writing instead of the art of writing. But not all critics are though. You must have come across some bad ones.
The Wholly Book of Genesis is a humorous satire on the first book of the Old Testament where the Story of Creation, the building of Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah and the families of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are thoroughly spoofed and broadsided.
