I reveled in your joy in the light;
I did not see you cower in the shadow.
I cradled you softly against my bosom;
I did not feel you turn away.
I thrilled to your innocent delights;
I did not notice the inner wound.
I cherished your tender hand in my warmth;
I did not think you’d grasp cold steel.
Love and forgetfulness played a deadly game;
horror shattered our trust.
Dreams, smiles, lifetimes of breath - lost;
our innocence is slain.
My soul heaves with agony at losing you;
my heart convulses with sorrow.
Come back to me from the shadow;
let me embrace you in the light.

I too, feel the agony the families of these innocent children must feel. Excellent write.
Many blessings,
