That’s My Baby

She never even whimpered once—
During her agonizingly slow death.
Only a select few people even cared—
That she was on the brink of death.
I, her creator, suffered for her.
Oh, what pangs of torment I felt,
As I watched her breathe her last breaths.
In her day, she was so, so glorious.
I buried her a little more than a year ago,
Often placing lamentful flowers on her grave.
Without self, she had made so many lives better,
And countless entities prospered for her power.
Then her godmother came to me and pleaded,
"Let’s resurrect her. Let’s give her new life."
Her medallions had gathered dust on my wall,
"No, too many last words spoken. We shan’t."
Reaching my doubtful fingers deep—
Into her last resting place,
She sparked within my mind—
The reason for her creation.
My fingers pranced and danced,
Giving her a renewed breath of life.
Now, she’s as glorious as she ever was;
That’s my baby!
She's composed of 392 menu options, 1,635 programs, 301,594 lines of programming code, 621 entry screens, 274 reports, and 183 inquiry screens. She masters accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, job estimation, financial management, general ledger, inventory control, physical inventory, payroll, production scheduling, sales control, and system administration, and there are no known bugs. She's my baby, and she's back!
