Funny the memories that seem to come forth while we sleep...

Poem Artwork

As a member of the pod, I played and slept on the bottom of the sea,

Then came the time I had to become the human me,

There I played with other kids, on the surface, in the waves,

Of my time with the pod, I had no memory,

I’d only learned quite late, of the memories I now remember.

I always had the penchant for being in or near the sea,

As a human kid we surfed, swam, scuba-dived, & boated,

To our ocean roots, though we did not realize, we were quite devoted,

Our roots, yes, came from the sea.

The painful part cam e as we grew old,

Our love of the ocean and desire to be near her,

Waned the older we got, less than when we were young,

We seemed to become a lot less bold,

Though we always remained of our Mother Ocean in love,

We were always considered by her, her loving children.

A lot of truth in your words. Dolphins seem to have a good time, whatever they are doing. But I wonder how older dolphins feel. I'll bet they ache and feel like they are going to drown one day. After all, like us, they breathe air.

You may be older, but you can always do a "pod" cast.
