Not ever a Merry Christmas for me...

One memory I have had since I was four...

After remembering a child hood Christmas at four,

Molested & raped at that young age,

Every Christmas does remind me of memories in store,

So much was I in those days memory poor…

I thoroughly recall every feeling of pain,

Much to each of life’s bane,

What family I had disowned me,

They apparently didn’t realize why I acted out so insane,

Might have been my past as well as the constant cocaine…

So too many remembrances of past bad Christmases,

And not enough people to be that of witnesses,

Why can I not purge this from my memory circuits,

My life from this has never had any purpose,

I think I should have just joined a traveling circus.

Ed, I'm so deeply sorry for what you've been through and still experience in memories. Find some good people who love you to spend Christmas with. There are always volunteers needed at shelters where they feed the hungry. Blessings to you, My Friend.

The key is in the moment. The past is a broken clock; to move on, we need to rewind that clock and move in synchronicity with it.

The past is not your fault - just because someone is born in the same family has no relevance to whoever you choose to like

This is the first time I have heard you mention cocaine. That white powder is a big deceiver. While it makes you feel powerful and creative, that is only a fleeting gesture. Your output, while you think it is voluminous and great, is only as good as your best sober work.

And the insidious nature of this opiate is its ability to bring you down into the worst depths of your existence. I've known several people addicted who died. The rest, like you recovered but were no longer able to really fend for themselves in society and required family or government help to keep off the streets.

No wonder you have no passion for writing anymore. You probably never did in the first place.

Ed, I share in your pain. I too have had severe sufferings you can't imagine and this time of year is the hardest you could ever believe. However what i found is taking that pain and helping others has greatly diminished mine. All I know is Jesus Christ, the light of the world is my strength and only hope because He gives no pain, He's only acceptance and love. With that I can endure heartbreak, cancer and rejection. Hope your day is brighter than bright because of our only hope in His suffering which was so great

River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood by David Thompson

For a time, I perched myself on a flat rock, comparing my life with the Guyandotte River. Just as its tributaries replenish it daily, changing it in some small—sometimes great—degree, so have the day-to-day occurrences of life changed me. Like the ri
