Remembering his life on his 11th death anniversary

Poem Artwork

  In  church

I remember first my dad

He had a vision

He pointed  at the alter and said

“Jesus “ at the tabernacle,  he saw

thus he felt   so  much love

Prayer , the passion of his late years

He took to it like a drummer to his drum

prayed  as he saw all of it was heard

Often he  teased his grandson young

When  dad was asked to pray for his exams

“He  roams,

Expects grandpa to do his bit”

Nevertheless he sent up his plea

To help all his little naughty kids

 He lived till eighty seven

About his childhood, youth

 power filled  life

 he made  a good living

loved  his children  and wife

for relatives ,he a gem

in  old age this I know

He prayed  all day long

‘When God has willed

What can doctors do’

He said nearing his end

He was ill for  a day

‘ Was seeing something  there

For  the way he said good bye

passing the baton ,his strength to live'"

I have observed that religion seems to play a greater role as good people like your grandfather age. With my grandmother it became an obsession until she lapsed into Alzheimer's until she was 90 and then passed away.

I find the most touching thing in the poem was that he died swiftly, didn't lay there for years in pain an suffering.

What a beautiful and touching poem. I enjoyed the part about the grandson not studying but expecting to ace the exam through grampa's prayers. Well, he must have had a lot of faith in Grampa's prayer power!! He left peacefully. What a blessing.

Love ya!
