A Flow of Consciousness
By: Trinity Rose
Stools and chairs hit the floor
Blood drop stains on the carpet
Only things left behind from lives that are no more
Caused by the pain of girls calling each other whore
If only you knew the pain hid behind a slammed door
All the yelling and shouting
Invisible fear in the pain filled minds
The cracks and drunks causing little ones pouting
What sadness to hear such innocent cry
Look at all those people that did not have to die
Look at all these underage kids getting drunk or high
Just to get a taste of what it feels like to fly
Sleeves and makeup used to conceal
All the pain you still feel
It is the eternal wounds that never heal
All that work just to get a snack not a meal
Violence and hate everywhere
Bulletproof book bags we should not have to wear
Gangs and ghettos have families scared
People crying on the phone just trying to bear
Just think of how many silent screams we can’t hear
Fear of live over death is near
The kids are not okay
They cannot get away
The world needs to change
Everyone’s in danger
Things will not remain the same
Change the system
Before we all die this way.
Before we all die this way."
Such an apt, timely, and "telling it like it is" write. Well done!
Peace and all good things,
Regis.
I think that the media, emphasizing the worst at unheard-of speed, telling us almost instantly what is happening everywhere, all the time, is particularly affecting young people who have not realized that what is offered through the news (perhaps why conservatives call it, fake) is also only a small slice of life in general, that is very good. Your granddaughter has a dark mind and stream of consciousness. Good for advocacy to do something about gun violence and diagnosing and treating mental illness.
Your granddaughter writes scary, but good, stuff. Her novels will become TV shows.

Trinity Rose is brilliant and she was brought up right! She experienced frighting experiences from the heart of a child while rationalizing the senselessness of it all, just like a good parent. Her ability to express it well on paper is enormous!
Trinity could write a short poetry book today with a title like, "If One Child Could Poetically Change the World, I Could!" or "A Worldly Perspective that Needs to Change. Poetically yours, from Trinity, A Fifth Grader." I'm sure she can think of a better title. I for one, would definitely buy her book!
Well done Trinity!
