The Mutt
Hey CarI, I hear you run this burger place, that’s a big step up for you,
Last time I heard you’re on the street with everything overdue,
Yeah Joe, you’re right, but life is funny, sometimes you’ll get a hand
My story is kinda special and here’s where it began,
I yelled, Git away! Git away! Mutt, Dammit ,didn’t you see!
That woman brought this double burger out here, just for Me,
Go and find your own meal, this one here is mine!
No don’t look at me with that sympathetic whine,
I saw you running over here, but sit down , take a breather
I know you’re kinda hungry ,but I ain’t had nothing either,
Yeah I know it’s a double , don’t look at me like that,
How about the french-fries, they might make you fat,
Yeah , you like that idea, I thought that you just might,
Go ahead and scarf’em up. We won’t have a fight,
Well now that was tasty , but it ain’t enough,
Living just on handouts, is always pretty rough,
You don’t have to follow me, I got nothing more to eat,
I’m just as lost as you, living out here on the street,
Look Mutt, you gotta git. I hardly make it on my own,
Yeah I know you like me, but you best leave me alone,
You sure picked a loser , when you took up with me,
We could try another burger place, but they won’t be free,
This one was a gift, that lady was really sweet,
Sometimes you find folks like that, they’re always pretty neat,
Yeah, I could maybe find a job, things are a little slow,
Don’t look like you been eatin lately, could change that I know,
Fast food places are the best , I could try that a spell,
They got lots of throw outs and Mutt you could eat well,
Guess what Mutt , I got the job, we’ll be eatin now,
Maybe in a couple of weeks , we’ll get off the street some how,
Yeah that was three years ago when ol’Mutt came to me,
Twas him that made the difference, gave me new life you see,
He’s now in doggie heaven, You Know there’s gotta be one,
I think he just came down from there and back when the job was done!
