In memory of Chika Anibueze. A Nigerian who died in the United States. She was killed by Covid 19.
Chika the angel in the distant clouds.
Treads slowly along the utopic path.
With eternity's splendour in your grip,
you were awoken by melodious sounds,
played by celestials who guided your trip.
You fled divinity's eternal wrath,
to dwell in realms of laughter infinite.
Those on earth have said a final goodnight,
desiring someday to share in this bliss,
when we like you will earn the Saviour's kiss.
Those certainly are heavenly words. And I'm not sure what Chika's true circumstances were… It seems that underlying conditions make COVID more lethal. I hope she wasn't taken too soon from this world.
I have stayed clear of the disease by not going out in public, and staying away from others while wearing a mask in the brief times I do.
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
