I felt this, especially the last stanza. For some reason in the past 4 yrs. or so I have been blessed (if you want to call it that) with seeing"shadow people" which usually means someone is going pass. I am more enlightened to the signs around me and am learning to connect dots. All things are not what they seem, yet the answers are they for those who chose to let your spiritual side in.I used to think this:

Closer, more cluttered
now the creatures of earth
the buildings and the roads
and compassion replaces awe -

Until I learned to look between the steel and concrete walls. Great write.
