I have those up days

and I have those down days

but always believing

that tomorrow will be a better day

I have to keep pushing onward

though some days are tough

and there are moments when I say

I’m done, I’ve had enough!

I can’t do this anymore

I want all this pain to stop

Feeling battered and bruised

Like a worn-out doorstop

Welcome onboard the rollercoaster ride

Announces Life, as she turns to look at me

It could be uncomfortable and bumpy

Or easy, smooth sailing which can set you free

On this significant journey you are the pilot

your desire and willingness to candidly navigate

will ultimately determine and define

your potential and personal growth-rate

As I crash into every tilt and thump every angle

Careening through every loop and hitting every slope

I hear myself crying, pleading and screaming

Stop, I really cannot cope!

Life once again looks at me and says,

You’re not ready yet, gather the reins

of the power within; and direct, control

and release all the hurt and the pains

Filled with fear, up and down and round I go

My bruised and aching body and my battered brain

feel contorted, warped and distorted

no longer able to tolerate this rollercoaster reign

Life looks at me once more and says,

You have options dear soul,

relinquish what’s not serving you,

regain your emotional peace, become whole.
