Just Another Old Sailor
By: felix perry
Stood on the pier near the old light-house
Looking, searching out to sea
Fog on the bay let me hide my tears
While the sea gulls sang for me
A North wind screamed aloud its misery
Trying hard to soothe my pain
While the white caps added a backdrop
That I can remember once again
The bell buoy peals in perfect cadence
Of my years gone much too fast
A fog-horn on an old tramp steamer
Reminds me my time is past
Just another old sailor on the pier
I’ll be just a few old memories
To those few who truly loved me
Throw my ashes to the hungry seas…

Yes, I can identify. While lately I've actually become more active on Zoom, my days of leaving the house every chance I got to explore this great continent and its people, eventually getting seafaring legs taking cruises to the Caribbean, are near over.
My pier is looking out my rear windows at the plants, birds and animals in their little squabbles that resemble us so much with great drama and youthful activity.
Thanks for reminding the youngsters reading that we will all reach that stage one day.
