From the blood of nightingales

From children's eyes in charred cradles

Your soul, my earth, rises

With a force like no other

Bombs and tanks shall not burn you,

Nor shall the dark of night conquer

The enemy's might in a world of oppression

Shall break like a rock in the embrace of the sea

For the cries of the victims,

For love's unbroken reed

The ocean's waves shall part

To close in on the tyrants'

Proudly advancing hosts

For the soul of this land

Whose blood sacrifice has

Exposed the lies the masters weave

To keep the slaves in chains

The farmer's hand that rears the soil

The toiler's sweat that plants the wealth

Which is reaped by the parasites

Burrowing into his flesh

Like the Old Man of the Sea

These are the truth behind all being

Of everything that is

Open your eyes, my heart, and see

The twofold yoke that is your chain

Oh soldier sent kill and maim

Us who are born of women

Of mothers such as yours

Open your eyes to the seasons

That shape your life just like ours

One is the land, one are the seasons

And locusts that consume your harvest

Are the same that consume our own

They've planted death between us

And this land which we love

They are strangling with walls

And life and land and blood

Are the commodities they trade

And buy and sell and haggle

Your life they trade cheaply,

Our lives they trade cheaper

Stocks fall and rise

And prices soar

Excess in goods and living souls

Must be destroyed and markets conquered

To rebalance the twin wheels of profit and trade

Today the currency is death

And it's a deal like any other

My brother, let this uniform not fool you

There's a world to be gained

And there's nothing to lose

But this chain without mercy,

But this yoke that strangles us both

Our freedom is yours too,

Our oppression your grave

And the grave of every hope

From the true mirror my phoenix,

My immortal love Palestine

Shall radiate the reflection

Of a world freed and reborn

And he and she that gazed upon

Their image within time's true promise

Nothing and no one

Can hold them back anymore

In the wars of the classes

They shall be fuel no longer

But the last and true st judge

Waters shall not drown them

Bombs and tanks shall not burn them

No army shall conquer them

The living shall honour

Their martyrs

As the dead bury their dead

Reviews of "Phoenix, Palestine, October 2023"

Such a tragic and devasting time for the people of Palestine. Your verses read like a plea and yet a promise too, you do not convey hopelessness in spite of the horrors perpetrated on you and your people and, if one is honest, on the whole world. We all lose in this even though some chose to bury their head in the proverbial sand. It has always been my hope and prayer that all "soldiers" would join in "humanhood" and refuse to take up arms. Love, peace, and blessings to you, Mahdi,

Regis. 🙏

The higher you go into the hills, the deeper the secrets... A seemingly innocent piece of mail shatters the illusion of Beverly Hills luxury, forcing a terrifying statement from a powerful action movie mogul: "they can't kill us fast enough."
