Poem Artwork

That time has come and gone once more
Scented candles packed back in a drawer
Robes of black folded and placed in a plastic cocoon
Couch covers removed with memory of October’s moon

The time was spent with the breaking of bread
Loaded with white stretchy cheese and peppers red
The fireplace crackled a lonely crickets song
Telling the spectator it’s been way too long

He hears the enigma brushing past his ears
Ghostly whispers of passion of previous years
His lips still dedicated to The Only, The Forever
No part of him will ever go to a mere whoever

The Colors stay fresh in his mind and emotion
Especially the lips of red, insuring his devotion
their demulcent touch melting deep inside him
guiding and unbridling the lost fires in every limb

None other before has been able to fuel such obsession
For none have mixed such softness with expression
The memory of their glide still causes excitation
Baring reason for his  never ending fixation

This is just one of the fuels for his yearly voyage
There are so many others released from storage
during the Mash.Tab.Ba and Sim.Mah ritual
but this too must end before it becomes habitual

With eyes closed and heart open, the ceremony is concluded
by sending the yearly kiss through a soul once more denuded

Lips form those forbidden words saying I Love You Now As Then

"demulcent touch" ... exquisite choice of words Edward, and a fine piece of work here that invigorates the soul. Blessings to you ...
