Some people will argue that only those things that one can see or touch are indeed existant. But others, and I am one of these, know that there is much more in this life than the physical realm. Man is more than just a physical being, he is also a spirit being that exists in a physical body. I believe there is a spirit realm in which the confines of a physical body hold no power. There are some things that one can see in the darkness, (maybe not tangible)that escape the sense of sight in the light, though we may be able to feel that presence.

THE BOX

I walk in the sunlight of the daytime hours.
But, as I walk, I notice that darkness is all around me.
Sudden fear and perplextion flood over my being
In waves of disbelief and bewilderment.
So many questions pound the doorways of my mind,
That in my frustration and total confusion
I stop walking.
Why is it that all my life I have been able
To see the beauty of all things in the light of the sun,
And now…now… I see only darkness, which
Usually hides itself from me during these hours?
Was that the whisper of the wind…or was that the
Taunting of the sea….?
I listen more closely, and I realize
That a voice is speaking to me.
Hark! A messenger attired in electric gossamer appears,
And upon shimmering wings my answer lies.
Concealed.
Wrapped in a tiny, pure gold box.
Daintily I reach my pale hands forward
And take the beautiful, golden box and hold it to my breast!
Whereupon I proceed to open it.
As I do so, I hear a voice from within the box
That is speaking to my heart.
It gives me the answer to my darkness.
To my aloneness.
I hear the words, “It is I”.
And all is now clear to me.
For without Him in my day,
All I have is darkness!!
Where, oh where is my light?
