And Christmas Went....

I saw him and gave a weeks worth to buy food to himself and to his little companion, (the dog licked thankfully (?)my hand).
But the image of them haunted me and forced my hand to write what my heart felt.

Poem Artwork

Christmas went and Santa didn’t come,
nor Rudolph the rein with the red nose,
no Christmas tree at the end of the alley,
where fingers and toes get cold and froze.

If one kept on wearing rags shredded by time,
can one call them to be the poor man clothes?
that everyone, passing by, don’t looks twice,
just hurry a little more fast, and then…ignore.

Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! to you all!
this Holyday Season had hunger for a few more,
in the company of a never complaining little dog
even the right to the American dream forgoes.

Yes it was Christmas, without family or friends,
not a nice way to awake on Christmas Eve, alone,
with the only warm coming from inside the church
where they celebrate the birth of the Father’s Son.

Back in the alley he will hold the little pet in his arms
sharing with the trembling dog his vanishing warmth,
feeling the despair for a long night, but knowing that
Santa at least had found, for his little brother, a bone.

Christmas came…and went, and you get another year,
to wander the streets until the next wearing red roses,
another lonely Holy Night like this one will come or,
an angel will take both where there is that final love.

Poverty & Homelessness is a very emotionally devastating thing. I personally encountered this myself twice. Homeless, poverty, & no family living in my car. It was horrible. A hard place to crawl out of. But when I was there in that deep deep hole is the closest God's Angels knowingly with many announcements of there presence came to me. I have never shunned a homeless person, nor felt ridicule or better than either. It can happen to anyone, some people don't realize it wasn't a choice to know such poverty. I loved your write George as always.

"The poor, the afflicted, do they even exist?...or are they just visions for us not to miss?"

This line is the beginning of the last stanz, my "Hobo in the Forest"
Right away, while reading it hit me and I think of those lines everytime I hear of such..."And Christmas Went", also drives that same love for all humanity!

There is not one man
or women alive
that can't find themselves
at anytime.

A wonderful pen, Georg...and God will Bless you Tenfold!:)
Love and Peace~

Amazing depth here Georg. Those that wouldn't look twice should envy the love shared by this man and pet. In the end God will be very kind to them and those that care, like you.

All the best from Texas, *Glen*

I've thought that perhaps the least the country could do was supply transportation to all the homeless south for the winter and north for the summer. Maybe they would take notice how many are really out there. It's a thought for what it's worth. It's sad to see, and I know some chose it for different reasons, yet sad none the less. I could not imagine living that. Lady J

Enjoyed the exoteric ontological flowing of pictures from the poemization... The messages in the esoteric images voice the depicting of the reality of the season in its most actions and deeds. This poem, "And Christmas Went...." was poetized with words dictated by the sounds of the bells of Justice.

I salute You, Poet.

Heartbreaking write, Georg; instead of helping those who are truly in need, we help those who abuse the system or help those who don't NEED the help! Sad! A powerful call for change; thanks for opening up our eyes with this painful reality! Someone needs to! And you are the one who can do it!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in America, Karen Lynn in Texas. :(

This is a stunning poem that arouses feelings of sadness, pity and even guilt--guilt for having warmth, shelter, food in abundance. These are wonderful blessings, for which I must be thankful.
But, yes, I could do more to help these two and others like them.
The picture is a beauty, too, and I can't help but notice how owner and dog resemble each other, something I've often heard happens.

With this poem George you gave the little Jesus boy a wonderful Christmas gift, for your heart spoke what he would have said, and I wonder when the world will learn enaugh compassion, so that this would not ever happen to anyone ever, especially when it's his birthday, you sharing this poem with us, and a weeks worth of living for both, will surely go into the big book up there, and if they should forget, I will write it in for you. YOu touched me deeply, and I think you will many more, what a wonderful way to help with your artistic talents, please keep on writing, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Blessings and love! This one lumps up the throat, Georg. Powerfully, effectively penned sadness. Where is the Christmas spirit now? Oh, I forget, it's buried under mountains of debt created by our own selfish greed!!!! Excellent, excellent call for change, my (((friend))).
