Never The Same

I had no choice but to follow the words where they led me....

Never The Same

when moon and stars have bid adieu
to the comfort that is night, when
sun waits beyond the far horizon

to break the softness of twilight, when the
faintest whisper of every dream fades
to memory and I am left without

words, when the breath is stilled and
the cloak of silence is draped across
my yesterdays... this is when I miss you

most... this is when my soul craves,
my heart weeps, and my very being
questions itself and fate's motives...

this is when I know that life will never
be the same.... and the silence
surrounds me in understanding...

it brings me to
the moment before
and the moment after...
the breath that I never took
and the one I will
never forget...
it brings me to the sweetest
love I'd ever known
and the deepest sorrow
to shadow my journey...
it brings me to the reality
of this quietness
just before dawn
... and it brings me back to you

this poem, Myrna, has the reach of heart
and the tenderest yet never gushing or schmaltzy
feelings; the writing is of course of a high order
as per you
it's good to read you

'Never The Same' has a gentle bluesy flow singing the words of a love affair that will never end.

Beautifully rendered, Myrna. The heart strings are pulled taunt within the lines of the haunting and love filled poem with a bit of sadness thrown in for good measure. Remembering reaching out in poetic form trying to touch that which you cannot is heartrending.
