Just sharing a new haibum

The Seasons of my Day
(a haibun)

Stars slowly fading
Giving way to dawn's rising
Day's new beginning

Every new morning is like a new spring with its renewal and unrevealed promises. It tells me my journey is not complete though I must now journey without you and the  choices of paths to take are mine alone. I observe old footsteps dulling with the progression of time.  I look to the fading stars for guidance but I am certain they have chosen to let me follow my own heart as I travel onward.

Sun and clouds collide
Mark days with indecision
Between warmth and chill

In the summer of each day I begin to dream of what lies ahead.  I chase those dreams and race the clouds and as I look toward sun's golden orb, I know it too will leave me to seek my own destiny. It can but light the way I will choose.

Colors gathering
Gold and crimson hopes and thoughts
Scatter in the wind

In the autumn of my twilight I reflect upon the changes I have made and those still left to make. Like leaves that fall to earth so fall the memories.  I am left to collect them or bid them a new journey.  I am left to remember them as they should be or holding  them long after their time of need. I know I must allow them to breathe and make this choice for themselves.

Upon midnight's glee
Ride the stars of a day past
Holding my secrets

It is in the stillness of my night that I face my life without you.  You are still my spring, my summer, my autumn, and my winter.  You guide me in your subtle way. You keep me focused on what is yet to be.  You were my confidant, my friend, my true st love.  You are that one star that lives within me and the heart that will always beat with mine. Yes, it is now, in the winter of my night, that I miss you most.  It is also that time when I know I can travel new paths, leave new footsteps, dream new dreams... because you have never really left me after all.

Stars slowly fading
Giving way to dawn's rising
Day's new beginning

Our lives are measured by seasons and each one has a special meaning...be of good cheer now and in all of the seasons that lie ahead.

This speaks to me as the routine of daily life governed by the sun. Without the sun, our lives are dismal. With the sun, we can rejoice with every day we have.

Haunting words Myrna, and as always a pleasure to read.
Hoping that you have warm and loving holidays with family and friends.

Well done, Myrna. This haibun is especially endearing simply because of the love you carried and still carry of one who is no longer with you. Your poignant haiku's and the expanding on them through prose make this one of your very best of which I have read. It has been a long time since I've tried my hand at haibun, but I think I need to revisit it.
